Poor, poor Millie :(

Reading your post, I also wondered if tube feeding may be the way to go. Has it been mentioned? It just seems like it would rest her throat and give the ulcers chance to heal and, like Shell said, get some calories into her and allow her to build up her strength.

I'm going to have a long chat with the vet tomorrow MM and will just go with anything they suggest. If that means a stay in their hospital whilst they tube feed her then so be it.

I don't know if I am worrying over nothing really - its just because she has brought back both lots of medicine this evening. Since Saturday she has kept down 14 out of 18 meals (although they were all pretty small and fed 2 to 3 mini meals per meal if that makes sense) and kept down all medicines until this evening. Sunday was one meal back, Monday was one meal back and today was one meal back plus something she snaffled off the floor and then the medicine this evening. When you look at it logically it isn't too bad really.

She has been doing so much better and when you look at where she was just over a week ago is doing really well.

I think just either need reassurance from the vet that it is normal for the odd meal to come up or for them to have her back in and sort her out.

The vet did tell Mick that it would be a very long slow job to get her better so maybe I am just expecting too much too soon.

I've been reading about feeding tubes on the net and I don't think it would be suitable as all they do is bypass the mouth and go straight into the oesophogus - and it is the oesophogus that is the problem as that is where all the ulcers are. I will mention it to the vet though.

Well, she has kept her thick medicine down this morning and had stage 1 of her breakfast and kept that down. I feed her two or three bowls each time she is fed, each with about two dessert spoons of food mixed up with water. She ate the first bowl and seemed a little unsure as to whether or not it was going to stay down but it did. But 10 minutes later when I offered her the second bowl she didnt want it so I suppose her tummy/throat is a little tender.

I am going to ring the vet at 8.30 as soon as they open to have a chat with them and see what they say.

She won't need to stay in, they will fit the tube and you will just syringe food and meds down it.

We're off up to see the vet, mainly because she probably isn't eating enough. I spoke to the nurse (who knows Millie well) and went through everything with her and she wonders if the ant-acid is not suiting her.

She's busy playing with L at the moment.

We've also decided that we are taking the baby gate off today - she always used to spend most of her time upstairs and now she can't go up there at all. The leg is doing really well and they are intending on taking the bandage off next week (hopefully) and she is managing the steps outside the house fine so we think that she will be happier if she can move about the house more freely. It also means that she can get back in S's bedroom where she likes to sit on her chair and watch the world go by from her window.

Debih my heart absolutely bleeds for you over this, it really does (((((((((((((((((x))))))))))))))))))

Like you I hope that $**% up the road had a nice Christmas!!! His total lack of remorse over this has been awful    :|

Perhaps Shell is right - it would get some weight back on her and nutrients back into her without making her sick?

Lots of gentle hugs for Millie, and for all of you too! xxxxx

Lovely positive news from the vets. :D :D

He thinks it is just a blip. That the ham Mick gave her on Sunday upset her tummy and that the chocolate she managed to steal on Christmas Day didn't help either.

He says to carry on with the thick white medicine and small meals and not to worry if every now and again she brings it back up. Meals must be tiny as her stomach will have shrunk. He has said to stop with the ant-acid for now just in case that is upsetting her tummy. The thick medicine is the important one.

He weighed her and she has put on nearly 1 kilo in just over a week so he was pleased with that but says he wants to see 3 more kilos going on.

He said that as long as she was putting on weight they would be happy, even if she was regurgitating now and again. If she isn't putting on weight then they will look at other options - tube feeding being one of them.
