Kennel cough.

Pepper has it :( Both our pups are vaccinated yearly, but apparently there are different strains - although having the jab means her illness should be fairly mild.

She's had a metacam injection at the vets this afternoon, and we've been told to keep her in, away from other dogs. Too late to quarantine Fraggle, we just have to hope he'll fight it off.

She's perked up a bit since the metacam, and is sleeping peacefully now.

Is that sort of like a canine flu virus, Kaz?

Oh poor Pepper :( Hope she's doing better today, and that Fraggle isn't affected xx

They're such a worry aren't they, these dogs!

From what I can gather, Ossie, yes sort of. She seems much better today, and so far Fraggle seems fine, fingers crossed!

Jo, tell me about it :? She just kept making this horrible choking cough :( Thanks :) xxx

She's off her food now, which we were warned was one of the symptoms, but it's so unusual for Pepper as she loves her grub :( Fraggle has the squits, but no cough, so it's doggie hospital here  I'll cook up some chicken later, see if P can be tempted.....

Oh no, poor things...and poor you too :(

I know I worry so much if anything seems off with Billy. A month or so back he wouldn't eat, he refused everything we tried to tempt him with which is so unlike him as he's so bloody greedy. Not even chicken worked.
Joe had stayed at his friend's overnight. He came home mid-afternoon and after greeting him with a few barks, I think telling him that he'd been worried, Bill was straight over to his food bowl and wolfed down the contents and from there he went to stand by the fridge...

Jo, that's so funny! :D

Pepper is back at the vets, well actually she's at Becky's vets! Not sure it is kennel cough at all, her eye was all swollen up, bright red and pus-y  She was cowering in the corner of the room, crying  She's going under sedation up at Wood's, for a total overhaul, looking for infection in her teeth and eyes :( :(

Looks like neither will be eating tonight Di :( xxx

Prolapsed tear gland, infected, aka cherry eye! She's coming home later, on antibiotics, but a minor op on Monday :( :? The infection explains her being off her food, and the odd behaviour.....

Her teeth are fine, in fact very good for a dog of almost 10 years old, which is good to know!

Oh poor Pepper!
Did that have something to do with the cough, or is that still kennel cough?
And how is Fraggle? xx
