With my 2 cats I am finding that after weeks of washing themselves, Molly very often vomits hers up - usually about 5 - 6 O clock in the morning and fortunately she does it on the laminate flooring so easy to clean, but with Tabby I have never known her to do so and wonder if I may be facing problems later. Is this normal

Kathy, sorry was meant to reply on Friday but got distracted and wasn't online over the weekend.

Of my 6 I it's only Harry that regularly brings up fur balls, but he has long fur and overgrooms to some extent so it's not surprising. Ava also has long fur but isn't nearly as bad and the others have only done so very (and I mean very) occasionally; about twice a year if that (well that I've noticed at least).

Generally, a cat will always ingest a certain amount of fur when grooming and it usually should pass through the digestive tract with no problem and come out the other end. But some cats just seem to regurgitate vs digesting and processing. What I find does help is a hair ball dry food (such as Science Hill or Royal Canin) and if you feed that (daily) either mixed in with the usual dry food (if you feed dry that is) or on it's own instead of the usual dry twice a week. My Harry unfortunately doesn't eat dry food at all so I get these for him http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/supp ... tes/209609 and he, and Ava get one tube every second day.

But I don't think that just because Tabby doesn't hairball means there is a chance of health problems in the future.
