Feeling a bit ripped off here

Stupidly I have run out of Denamarin for Mowgli. I thought I had another strip but it was Mia's Fortekor  I have ordered two packs online, so I don't run out again, but they won't arrive until Tuesday. I am worried that without it, Mowgli might get poorly again, so I rang my vet. Yes they stock it, but at £38.00 a box, that is nearly double    I think that is outrageous but am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Wouldn't mind but they still haven't sent off Mia's insurance claim that I handed in on 30th March, if I had that £100 it would help

There is a massive mark up on pet medicines isn't there.

One of the mums at school is MD of a pharmaceutical company and last year they ventured into the world of pet medicine.

When we thought Millie was going to have to be on her drugs for ever she said that she would see if she could source it for me cheaper (she can't supply it to me as it is illegal - it has to come from a distributor not a manufacturer). One of her clients said that he would sell it to me at cost - £12 a bottle (can't remember which medicine it was now).

I had been buying it from the vets at £69 a bottle!!!!

And some of it's plain daft. The vet sold us some Zantac to give Minnie before eating to help her not be sick, then I saw you could buy it at Tesco for 1/3 the price. If it was the sort of thing either of us had used we'd have known, but we don't really ever need any kind of medication so had no idea.

My friends cat was put on Zantac liquid at £43.00 per bottle. Her daughter was also on it and she asked the pharmacist the cost £5.50 per bottle. It is a licence to print money

it is a rip off. And what makes it worse is that they know it so when you want to order via an online chemist they whack you a fortune for the prescription. Not sure about your vets but apparently certain meds have to be per cat so they know who has got what; ie when Jasper was alive and I needed Fortekor for him and Molly I had to get two prescriptions for 180 pills each vs on prescription for 360 pills...

My vet charged me £20 for 4 worming pills the other day that I could have bought on-line for 1/2 that. I was stupid and should have just ordered them online and wait those few days but felt really guilty because my gang hadn't been wormed in ages and three had been bringing home mice on a regular basis so I got this bee in my bonnet I needed to worm them (but why I couldn't wait another 3 days is beyond me  :P but ho hum)
