A friend who I only chat to on Facebook now pm'd me today to let me know she had lost her lovely dog, Fizz.
Tracey the lady in question, was Luke's 1:1 at his last school. She is profoundly deaf and Fizz was her hearing dog. Fizz quite often used to go to school with Tracey and Luke has lots of pictures on his bedroom wall of Fizz, on her own, with him and with him and Tracey.
Run free lovely Fizz, I am glad you had a happy retirement and plenty of fun running on those Bristol hills

No she lives with a partner now, whereas she was alone with two young children when she had Fizz working with her. She has also had some surgery, so not sure how much that helped her

I know all our pets are special, but these hearing / guide / special needs animals are extra special. It must be hard for her to have lost such an important part of her (if that makes sense)

My friend sent me this today, it's just so sad. I think because I saw the relationship between Tracey and Fizz I know first hand how very special Fizz was
Morning. Fizz was diagnosed with a heart murmur last yr. We retired her from hearing dogs bur of course you couldn't tell her that and she carried on regardless. We,ve had a couple of scares with her where sges had dizzy spells from her heart not beating enough oxygen, but she was on loads of meds and it had seemed to settle down. Weve been working on the garden all year and shes been there with us, pulling pots around, 'making twig piles, right up until we finished it two weeks ago. Couple if days ago she went off her food and was just really tired. We put off going away and tues decided to take her for a check up but they said her heart was failing. Her heart was missing beats and she was really struggling they said they coykd put her on oxygen but she just looked at us and we kinda knew it was time to let her go. We brought her home and shes buried in her favourite spot under a tree in her garden, it was if she was waiting for it to be finished you know?
We are in cornwall, we couldnt stay at home, too strange. We,re out each day but just seem to find places fizz would like, and sit talking about her. Mornings are hardest, tmrw going home will be! Awful, not sunk in yet, people on here say shes just a dog but you know she was much more than that. Sorry for rambling on, not spoken to anyone else like this, dont cry, she didnt like crying, say hi to luke for me, thabks shelley xx
