Bit of a mixed bag with her over Christmas.
She was fine after the camera down her throat (last Tuesday) and kept every single meal down. Then Mick gave her some ham on Sunday afternoon
and that came back up again. Then she brought her dinner up. Monday morning she was reluctant to eat but did so. She kept everything down all day until her very last meal (which she did gulp down) and bought that back up. Christmas Day she was fine. Today her breakfast came back up and then she was fine for the next two meals until she had her last batch of medicine.
She then proceeded to bring the medicine up so we decided not to feed her this evening but I have just given her her ant-acid medicine and that has all come back up too.
We aren't due back to the vets until New Years Eve but I will be on the phone to them first thing in the morning to see what they say.
I am finding it so, so stressful now. It's like playing russian roulette with every meal she has!

Oh Debih, I do feel for you. I know how I felt with Mowgli, will he, won't he.
I hope the vets can offer some advice tomorrow.
Do you think her weight has gone back on at all?

Debih, have you tried giving her plain boiled rice with either some boiled chicken (bones removed obviously) or white fish? That's normally quite easy on the tummy?
What a worry for you - as you've said before; she's not a large dog at the best of times and really cannot afford to lose more weight. Poor love and poor you - it's so hard when we just can't wave that magic wand and make it all just right
Fusses to her

I'm going to ask the vet tomorrow about what to feed her. At the moment she is still on watered down tinned food - it isn't really her tummy that is upset its the throat with all the ulcers so it hurts when it goes down and her automatic reaction is to bring it back up. She is regurgitating rather than being sick. Apart from the last time tonight and that was definitely proper vomitting.
I think she has probably put some weight back on - she must have as from Tuesday evening to Sunday afternoon she was eating really well - but she still feels like a little bag of bones. You can feel all her ribs and her back end has no meat on it at all, its horrible to touch, just boney bones.
In herself, up until this evening, she has been fine. This evening she is very subdued but it must really hurt.
I wonder if it is the ant-acid that she is taking. We stopped giving it to her completely at some point as nothing at all was staying down. Then when we fetched her back from the vet on Tuesday they never mentioned it so she didn't have any at all. When I took her on Thursday he said to carry on giving it to her twice a day and as we were out that night we didn't give her any then and started her back on it on Friday. Friday and Saturday she was fine and then the regurgitation started again on the Sunday, albeit rather spasmodic.
Today is the worst that she has been for over a week. Breakfast came up, lunch stayed down (although it was only four level dessert spoons), she must have then eaten something without us seeing her as she was sick again at our friends house, dinner stayed down (again only four spoon fulls mixed with water) and then the medicine came back up, followed by her being very sick after the ant-acid.
She must be really hungry as she hasn't really eaten very much the last couple of days as I have been giving her very small meals. I feel as though she is starving to death in front of my eyes - although I know she isn't as at the moment she is keeping more down than she is bringing back up.
I keep trying to tell myself that it can't be anything too serious - she's had loads of blood tests and x rays and then the camera down and apart from the ulcers in her throat they haven't found anything. They did say that it was going to be a very long, slow journey to get her back to normal and that she may never be completely back on solids so maybe we are worrying about nothing.
The vets opens at 8.30 so I will ring them then and see if they want to see her or can just talk to me over the phone. I know in the morning she will be very wary about eating - she always is after she has been sick the night before - and then I will start to whittle about that.
It's completely dominated our Christmas and although we have had a nice enough time Mick and I have spent most of it worrying about her. I hope the idiot up the road had a lovely time with his dog!

Has she nicked any of the girls chocolate, Debih?
That would make her sick and upset her tummy.
I was`nt aware of that and used to feed one of our dogs
with chocolate until the vet said it was bad for them.
Hope Millie gets well soon.

She did steal some chocolate whilst we were out yesterday but yesterday she was fine.
It isn't vomiting as such - when the food gets down into the stomach it stays down. It's the getting down that's the problem because of the ulcers in the throat. The vet says not to call it vomiting as it is immediately after food so therefore it's regurgitation.
Roll on tomorrow morning.

I am beginning to wonder about tube feeding her Deb. I know your instincts will be to say 'no that is a step too far' but it was a life saver for Mowgli. It would be a way to rest her throat, get calories and food into her, give her medicine without any of it actually having to touch her throat.
It might be something to consider and it doesn't take long once they are on the mend.
