For the first time in over a week...

Millie has kept all her food down. :D :D :D :D

Every single meal.

They have been teeny, tiny meals. I have given her two level dessert spoons of ID tinned food mixed with water and she has eaten that and then five minutes later I have offered her the same again.

For the first three meals (she has to be fed four times a day and offered three small meals each time) she hasn't wanted the second part of the meal but for her last meal at 8pm she had two bowls.

She has only had about 1/2 a tin all day which is well below what she should be having (1.5 tins is the recommended amount) but hey, its a start.

Onwards and upwards hopefully.

No - she hasn't had it now since Wednesday.

I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not but (not that I know more than a vet) I don't really think she needs it. The problem is with the ulcers in her throat and not with her stomach.

When she is sick she isn't really being sick - she is regurgitating the food immediately it goes down. It doesn't even really get to her stomach.

They told me to hang onto the antacid in case we need it at a later date.

All she is on now is the Antepsin (they give that to humans as well) and her anti-biotic jab. The anti-biotic jab runs out on Monday and they will decide then whether or not they want it renewing. The last vet that looked at her leg (Christmas Eve) said probably not.

Oh - and she has also discovered that she can get on L's bed. That's her favourite place to sleep if she can get away with it.

We didn't think she would manage it as it is one of those mid sleeper beds - it comes to about my shoulder height. But she can jump up and down onto it without a problem.

and of course she is getting away with murder :D

I bought a tin of biscuits for the vets and on the label I wrote

Thank you for making us better, but most of all thank you for making those silly humans so worried we now get to sleep in their bed every night. What a result. Love Mowgli and Mia

Another day and so far so good. One more meal time left at about 8.30pm.

And she's eaten more today. Each time I have fed her she has had two bowls of food (two dessert spoons of food mixed with water each time). Yesterday she didn't want the second bowl each time.

When I last fed her I think she would have had a third bowl but I don't want to push it.

I have changed her back to the expensive, prescription only food for the time being as I am worried it could be the Chappie if it isn't the antacid. The vet said that any food would be fine as long as it was watered down and squished up so it was very smooth. But this prescription food gives her loads of nutrients back and I know that she can keep it down.

It's £2 a tin and when she is up to speed she should be on 1.5 tins a day but I think a couple of weeks of her keeping everything down would be good as it will give the ulcers time to heal so I will buy 10 tins when I go tomorrow and then see how she is when they run out and perhaps try her on the Chappie again when they have gone.

When I go tomorrow I will ask the vet how long they think the medicine coats her throat for. At the moment I give her the medicine and then feed her 30 minutes later, followed by another bowl 10 minutes after that. I wonder if I could give her another bowl 30 minutes or so after that, but if the medicine is no longer coating her throat then it will just make her sick again.

I do feel like we have turned a bit of a corner. :D :D :D
