Have just spoken to the vet and it isn't really the news that we were hoping for.

They have run a barrage of tests and everything has come back fine. The camera has been put back down and there are no ulcers in her stomach and the ones in her osophagus do seem to be a little better but her osophagus is really, really tight which is why the food isn't getting through.

They are going to feed her by IV for the next 48 hours or so to give her throat a complete rest and then slowly start her on a liquid diet, introducing thicker food as they go along.

If she can't keep the food down then the next stage is very invasive and they are not sure how she will cope with it and we aren't sure that we really want to put her through it.

They still don't know what has caused it - whether it was caused by medication or a hernia caused by the car hitting her.

The vet has said that we can go over and visit her if we want to and Mick says he will go tomorrow. To be honest, I just don't know if I can. In herself she is still perfectly okay and that's what seems to make it even harder.

To say that I'm devastated doesn't even cover it. All we can do now is wait. I'm dreading telling the girls.

Debih - really not sure what to say right now - I am sorry that this is happening. Hopefully the next 48 hours will give the swelling a chance to go down and try and remember that she is in the best place for whatever treatment needs to be given. Crossing fingers and toes that she pulls through and you have your Millie home soon.

I'm hoping the rest from food will help her throat heal.

Update from the nurse this morning is that she is really bright and was very excited to go out in the yard for a wee. She hasn't been sick since we took her in which is good - but then again she hasn't had anything to eat and most of the vomiting took place after eating.

Her temperature is back to normal and she is on a barrage of drugs to try to control the ulcers, the acid in her stomach, the lining of her throat and a high dose of steroids. The nurse said that she is settled down and asleep unless they go near the cage and then she gets quite excited.

Mick is going to go over and see her this afternoon. The girls and I would like to go but I don't feel that its fair on her - she'll just get all excited about seeing us and then we'll be leaving her behind. It'll also give Mick a chance to speak to the vet so that he can get all the info - I found it hard yesterday trying to take it all in and digest the news that I wasn't really expecting to hear.

Not sure when they are going to try her on solids - probably tomorrow. The nurse said that she had had a long chat with one of the dieticians who had come up with a couple of suggestions about how to make it easier for her to swallow.

Still keeping fingers crossed that the closure of the esophagul sphincter is due to swelling caused by the ulcers and not scar tissue. One can be cured. The other can't.

Think you're right not to go and see her Debih, if she gets ezcited about anyone going newar the cage, no doubt she'll pine when you leave.

Good to hear that the vets are trying all sorts of things - and steroids do wonders for nasty things.
