update

Postby debih » 13 Jan 2013, 20:05

We're out at the minute but just popped on to update.

1.5 tins of liquid food kept down. Vets are really pleased and we are ecstatic.

They are keeping her in another 4 days.

Brilliant Deb, I have been looking out for an update all day. How are they feeding her at the moment?

From what I can gather (they spoke to Mick rather than me) they gave her a liquid food called Compound (or Complan).

She is still being fed via IV as well to keep her nutrients up and they still have her on steroids, AB's and a whole host of other drugs to help.

They want to keep her in for another few days to make sure that she is better and also to keep her on the drugs for a while longer. I'm happy with that as I still have this thing going through my head that she managed to keep food down for 5 days after the camera went down last time and so maybe it was the camera making room through the inflamation. The vet is positive that that was just a coincidence as he said that the camera would damage the throat if it did that but I have sort of homed in on this 5 day thing so I need her to get past that really before I can properly relax - the camera went down on Thursday so once we get to Wednesday I might start to be more convinced.

But it is a massive positive so I am focusing on that. The vet did tell Mick that the food they gave her was the equivalent of 1.5 tins of normal food and the fact that she managed to eat that much has more than surpassed their expectations.

Absolutely gutted.

She's been sick in the night and when they fed her this morning.

Vet very reluctant to put her down so they are trying a balloon stent to see if it will stretch her osophegus.
