Mia's weight

I took Mia to the vets today, as she has been on antibiotics for a fortnight for a suspected urine infection. You may remember I mentioned it previously, but at that time decided to leave it. Three months later her urine still had blood in it, so she has had a course of antibiotic.

When I took her two weeks ago for her check up, her weight had dropped, today it had dropped further.

The vet is happy to leave her for a month, in case the antibiotics were reducing her appetite, but she was already losing weight before they started.

Not sure what to think?

To be honest, there isn't anything to pick up from. She is eating well, she is happy, lively, her fur is beautiful, her eyes are clear. Bloods were stable, urine is clear. Nothing, just weight loss :?

Old people can get thin, can't they, without being ill. It seems to me, with the very old, that the thin get thinner while the fat get fatter....... Is it the same for pets perhaps? xxx

Yes that is one of the better options, that she is just loosing muscle mass. She does nothing but sleep all day

If everything else is good (fur, eyes, appetite etc) then I'm sure the weight loss is just down to her age. She's probably eating a little bit less now that she's sleeping so much and doesn't need the same number of calories. It's hard not to worry about them though.
