Minnie update (Updated Sat pm)

We got the first appointment at the vet, 9.00.
She spent quite a while examining her; she has a temperature but nothing obvious causing it, however her gums are pale.
She took blood for testing, one lot of tests would be done today, another lot sent somewhere else. First they're looking at anaemia, if not that then it's rather more serious, which I'm not thinking about yet.

They've already rung, the receptionist didn't know the details but the vet wants to start treatment immediately, so I'm to take her back at 3.20. Hopefully that means it's anaemia and easily fixed.

I had to try and get her to eat, so went straight from dropping Bb and her off here down to Tesco. Got a bag of plain white fish fillets, and BB cooked some rice while I was gone. Cooked 1 fillet, flaked it and mixed it with the rice. She ate a teaspoonful, so I gave her a bit more, then she was done...
She hasn't asked for any more, but I shall try and give her a little more in half an hour or so.
She seems to be drinking more than usual but I guess that may be the temperature :?

Thanks ever so for all your good wishes, will let you know as soon as I get back later.

Oh no Di - I was so hoping for better news.

But if the vets want to start treatment straight away they obviously know what it is, which is at least something. And at least she has a tiny bit of something in her tummy.

Can she have yoghurt. When Millie first starting eating again after being on the IV they were feeding her bio yoghurt (plain). She really likes it - it is easy to digest and she can just lick at it rather than having to chew.

Hope all goes well this afternoon.

I don't know about the yoghurt Debih, since she has the colitis anyway, I'll ask this afternoon.
She ate some more fish and rice though :) Then straight back to sleep

I'm hoping very much it's anaemia really, and not that they know her blood count's down so are giving her something for that before knowing more iyswim. Will soon find out anyway.

Sending loads of vibes for a positive outcome at the vet this afternoon Di - as Debih says; hopefully the vet has an idea of what is going on hence the same day appointment again and immediate start of treatment.

Fingers crossed and good luck for later today!

The vet's 99% certain this is what she has. There are quite a number of articles when you google but lots are American.
http://www.ufaw.org.uk/PRIMARYIMMUNEMED ... RINGER.php

For now she has the steroids mentioned, and another drug (Imuran) which we have to wear gloves for...the rest of the blood tests re at the lab so they will let us know if it shows anything different. She wanted us to get the treatment started asap, that's why she called us back today.
Minnie's blood count was 30. She was getting worse by the hour, it took almost half an hour to walk to the vets, I was worried she wouldn't make it. She said it was ok to walk home but very slowly or Minnie could collapse.
Oh and she did say it had obviously been a very sudden onset, only 3 or 4 days.

It's wait and see if she responds to the drugs. We're to go back on Tuesday for more blood tests to see, but to ring in the meantime if we need to. She kept saying 'I must warn you...' about the disease and the drugs
Our poor perfect Minnie

Goodness me Di; what a worry.

I had a quick glance through the article but couldn't see how long it should take, once you start the treatment, to see an improvement.

Fusses to your poor ill Minnie; I really hope the Imuran and steroids kick in very soon and she perks up a bit and a (((hug))) to you :(
