A Cat Question

Postby miasmum » 31 Oct 2015, 18:50

Do cats ever die in their sleep?

I so want Mia to go to sleep and not wake up, but in all my years I have never known this happen to us or anyone.

Can anyone tell me it does happen?

Not in my experience Shell, my mum's cats always seemed to go in daylight, usually with the other cats standing guard :(

Shell, can I just gently say, and pleased don't take this the wrong way, but perhaps if you are longing for her to go peacefully like that, then maybe it is 'time' to help her over the bridge? So sad for you, and for Mia (((((((((((((((x))))))))))))))))

I know Kaz but it is so difficult because although she is pitifully thin and wobbly on her legs, she is still purring, still using her scratching post and still coming up to bed.

I thought this would be easier than Mowgli, but because she isn't obviously in pain it is a damn sight harder

I found that yesterday Kaz, when I was doing some research.

Her personality is no different. She isn't hiding away, in fact at this moment she is lying in a patch of sun on the rug, she has always been a heat seeking missile. She slept on Tim all night. She licks the liquid off her food, but eats nothing. Her eyes still look exactly the same. She is still washing herself the best she can.

She is just pitifully thin and wobbly on her legs

Oh Shell, how terribly sad :(

I think I agree with Kaz, sweetheart.....yes she may be 'herself' but she isn't eating, and she's wobbly on her legs probably because of that....

Huge hugs - what a hard decision ((((((((((((((((((())))))))))))))))

Then if she isn't eating sweetheart, she is dying :(

It's a horrid thing to have to decide, but sometimes hard decisions have to be made (((((((((((x)))))))))))))

but I know she is dying, she has been dying since she was diagnosed with an abdominal tumour on the 1st of September.

I want her to die in her bed, not pinned down on the vets table. My vet is lovely but Mia is a nervous cat and hates the vets.

She has just eaten a small amount of Sheba, just when I thought I had made my mind up that tomorrow would be the day.

Some vets will come to the house, I've had friends who have had the vet out for this.

Shell I know it's hard :(
