Cruiser, my hat is off to the guy who laid the flagstones. I hate that job and doing it well is a nightmare.

We have the other 2/3 of the garden done but cannot get the rest of the path in due to the slabs being sold out at the local DIY store.

I'll put in a photo when I get time. We are going to have to replace two runs of grass, they are not good. But at least we have plenty of spare turf to swap it out with.

The grass. As you can see we are fighting a battle to keep it watered. For now. Thunderstorms and rain from Thursday.

I have spent the whole morning with the pool pump in bits. Quick call to my father (RAF electrician for 40 years), plus a dose of my own mechanical skills and the pump is, again, starting and running. Major PITA. At least when I ordered new bearings for the pump last year I bought two sets. Just as well. Didn't realise that the impellor has a plastic thrust bearing which can also fail... However some judicious poking with a screwdriver revealed that it is two sided.

Not just me though Osc. Mrs S spent 9 days working on levelling and rolling and 5 days on her hands and knees levelling. Riddling a whole lot of earth to fill dips.

I supplied brute force, no use with the softer touches I'm afraid.

It is, a very hardy grass though. Our garden is a sun trap and can hit 50c when there is no wind.
