Really sorry to read you've had to shelve your plans for the time being, Kaz :|

£30K reduction is quite an ask, we'd have done the same as Mick and yourself and said No.
Maybe see what the market is looking like in 6 months to a years' time. If the price of your house comes down, I'm sure the price of a decent bungalow will come down too.
Any decent areas around Gloucester other than Hucclecote? Is Quedgeley any good?

Thanks Ossie. Yes if the whole market comes down it's not an issue, but we're not willing to take a hit in a buoyant one :? We can wait it out a bit.

Quedgeley is a bit further out than we would choose and since they built huge housing estates (Kingsway) it has some social problems. Longlevens, Elmbridge, Longford, Hucclecote would be our areas of preference. Kingsholm (where D is) is a funny one - it's very close to the city and has some of the best roads in Gloucester (D lives in one) but also has a lot of scruffy Victorian terrace by the rugby stadium.

You do right to stick to your guns Kaz. All the estate agent wants is a sale.

Thanks Crommers :) We both feel a bit deflated, but know we're doing the sensible thing for now.

Sorry to see this Kaz, but a drop of £30k is not on. Disappointing for you both though :(

Sorry to read this Kaz, it’s a bit early to suggest a drop in price. Maybe if it’d been on the market for six months but not a few weeks.
Strikes me that the agent wants his commission.

We’re on pins at the moment for Tom. The solicitor has all info requested and he’s had the mortgage agreement in principal so the full application went in last week and he’s waiting for the offer now.
He’s heard today that the valuation has checked out okay, and that they’re satisfied with his bank statements and payslips. They’ve emailed another form today for us to fill out for his gifted deposit so hopefully they’ll be satisfied with that.
Just hope they’ll offer him what he needs, looking at mortgage calculators online he needs just two thirds of what he could borrow according to his wages but who knows what decision they’ll make.

Thanks Kaz, he has. Good thing or he’d have been renting a storage unit, we can’t get into the garage or the study
