I did a load of washing last week before I retreated to bed sick, where I stayed for 4 days, and of course no one got the washing out of the machine, let alone hang it up to dry. And now some of the clothes smell really bad. I've tried rewashing them and using baking soda and vinegar (seperate washes) but they still stink. Are they a lost cause or does someone have a magic trick?

Have you tried line drying them? Or are you putting them in the drier. Fresh air might help...........

Oh and hot enough water to kill the bacteria as that is what the smell is, 40c at least, not a cold wash xx

This has happened to me before Weka.

I washed them again in as hot a wash as I could then hung them out on the line. Most of them were fine but I did wash one or two again.

Ahh thanks. Makes sense. They have been on the line a couple of times, but I'll try them in a hot hot wash

Hubby's shirts, I have a devil of a job getting the perspiration smells out of his work shirts and the deodorant marks off. Any tips?

The same, it needs heat. I seem to remember you saying before that you use cold water in NZ in your washers. IMO cold wash doesn't shift bio stains like sweat very well. I try to wash a lot of our stuff on 30 degrees, but sheets flannels and towels go on 60 to kill the germs and dust mites, and anything that seems sweaty goes on 40 at least, maybe even 50........

Oh and I have one of those stain removing sprays that I use before stuff goes in the machine.....great for stuff like this I use a Vanish one, but am not sure what brands you get there?

Is vanish n the pink bottle? If so I think it is labelled friend here.
