Update ;)
No-one hoovered yesterday.
This morning Bb did downstairs, and yes long hairs got round the brushes - but they just lift/pull off, no problem.
I couldn't see it not happening at all really, simple physics or whatever, it's bound to - but it's the ease of removing them that's different, plus far fewer of them getting caught.

I am just about to drag the Dyson upstairs and it hardly picks up anyway. I am wondering about buying one of these with the refund from Southern Electric and forgoing a holiday this year :?

I have toyed with the idea of a lighter weight hoover for taking upstairs...the Dyson (and older model, DC04) weighs sooo much and although it's vey efficient, it does sometimes throw small bits behind it rather than swallowing them up :| Not a fan of pull along ones (not an upright, my mind has gone a blank) and this does seem to fit the bill - but I can't understand why everything is quite so expensive these days!! You pay as much, or more, for a hoover as you do a washing machine :|

We very recently got a Dyson cordless - rather expensive but Mr Osc bought it as he does all the hoovering, and he loves it. He says it is so light and no hauling Henry around, and he is much more inclined to do a bit here and there (in fact he is turning into quite the little housewife ;) ;) )

My Dyson cordless has been a godsend :) Not cheap, but worth it IMO
