My previous phone was a Sony Ericsson and the computer found it with no bother at all.

HI PP,

On most phones Bluetooth visibility is switched off by default. On Samsungs you need to go into the Bluetooth settings and tell it how long you want it to be visible for. Then it will be found.

This is because of what used to be called "Buejacking" where people with no life used to send stupid messages and try to hack any Bluetooth phone in the area which was broadcasting.

Mine is set for 2 minutes by default Suff. I'll try setting it for longer to see if the laptop can see it. I tried it with my husband's phone (also a Samsung) and they found each other immediately.

Have you tried pairing it with the Laptop first?

Also the time out is from when you enable it??

How do I pair it with the laptop Suff? I just make sure the phone has Bluetooth on and set to be visible and then open fsquirt.exe and click on "send files".

You use the Windows Bluetooth software, make the phone visible, ask the windows Bluetooth to pair with it and work through the codes to be exchanged.
Right click on the Bluetooth icon in the task bar, select to add a device and it will search for the device. One you see the phone, select it and follow the instructions.

Once it's pared, it will always be visible to windows applications and windows when both devices are enabled for Bluetooth. Even if the phone is set to hidden.

fsquirt.exe should be able to see a paired device.

That is the part that fails Suff. I have, at various times, downloaded and installed Samsung's New phone explorer and Kies as they bring in new W7 drivers, but still no luck.

The 'net' is alive with solutions to this known Samsung problem, but they only ever seems to work for the person who found them. It doesn't bother me so much as I have the USB data cable, I think that Liz might also be using that system.
