Vocal Voices

I know that I am supposed to fall into the 'expert' category when talking about computers but.....

I need a new mouse. I am left-handed, but use the mouse in my right hand. I use a digi-pad and pen with my left for a lot of things, but there are times when I use the mouse extensively. My last one, a Mercury, has given up the ghost. I need one with forward/back buttons and they should both be be thumb operated. Any ideas, please?

I have recently bought a new mouse. Was having problems with the original one which I got many years ago when I got my first computer.
The new one is a Gigabyte Model number GM-M6800. Bought from Amazon. Find it much better than the original.
I am right handed.

My experience with Mice over the years is that Microsoft produces much higher resolution and mice which are more resilient to difficult surfaces. I've found that Logitech mice are more fussy about the surface you use.

There are many mice out there with thumb forward back, my best suggestion is head over to PC world and try them out as they have many out on the counter.

One other suggestion is that you try a trackball. My experience of trackballs is that the larger the ball the smoother and better it works. Once I'd got over trying to push the trackball base around I found that the ability to just flick the ball and stop it when ready was a really great way to get around. The main reason I don't have one now is that I have to use mice at work and trackballs are really not very portable.

Just some food for thought. I hate the forward/back buttons as I always click them when I'm at the stage of buying something and screw up the transaction, having to start again.....

Not much help, but a few pointers. I have a Logitech M705 mouse in my bag which I bought on ebay. It's pretty much what you want but I don't use it much because I'm using keyboard combo's and also I can't get the W8 driver into W8 so I can't associate the mouse with the transmitter. Quite nice mouse though.

I really like trackballs, they helped me a lot with the RSI problems, but have to say they don't seem to last very well.

I like the Mercury one. I have had it years -Win95 days - and it works well with XP, but W7 does not like it and there are no updated drivers for it.

I bought a cheap SWEEX mouse from Maplins, and I'm very pleased with it.

I don't know what forward/back buttons are or what they are for, but I don't think mine has them.

they move the browser forwards of backwards through the current page history. I hate them as, clumsy as always, I usually press the back one at some critical moment which trashes the page and forces me to go through all the work again......

But some people love them...
