Here is a photograph, taken today by my wife, of Alli and me....

As you can see - it's "back to the drawing board".

Aggers, The image address I get is:

http://stannitelustre.farm9.staticflick ... 58d8_m.jpg

but you used the button.

However when I used the [Img] button all I get is an icon, like so
Image

There is something wrong with the address, or it is in a private folder, or direct linking is not allowed for some reason.

Aggers, here is a link for a pic in my TinyPic album

http://i55.tinypic.com/2qa5tp4.jpg

Now, if I highlight it and then use the image [Img] button you get:

and that produces:

Any help?

Thank you Frank for your help.

I must confess I get more confused every time I deal with this matter

When I left my computer this afternoon, I had put on this thread a link to my photo on Flickr, which worked. Now that has disappeared but I presume that is because of something you did ? I will delve into this business sometime, but I'm not happy now with Flickr, and I would like to try some other website. I seem to recall a web address something like "photo shack" or the like that some members used. Does anyone remember ?

Something else happened tonight that concerns me. I have had trouble with logging in on our new site, having to log in each visit although I ticked the box for automatic logging in every time. I thought the problem had been sorted out but tonight when I tried to post on this photograph board I was refused permission to post a reply because I wasn't logged in. I thought that viewing of this board was restricted to members only.

I must put it on record that it was a lovely meeting Alli, and my wife and I both enjoyed the experience very much.

If you click on the link address you will see the photo as it was taken -with my left ear intact

Morning Aggers,

First thing to say is that the disappearance was nothing I did. We cannot get into each other's post and modify them, so I am as baffled as you are.

The problem I discovered was with the link address. It could be that it lead to a closed/private album, and Flickr for some reason has limited/restricted direct linking according to the site FAQ. When you made the photo public via the link in the photo board I was able to copy that new address and make a direct link, as we can see above. Flickr, TBH, looks to have gone all FB come Twitter... it's a bit of a mess.

You were asking about alternatives. I think the one you were after is Photobucket: http://beta.photobucket.com/ I used to use it, but it got a bit pushy with its offers and stuff. My favourite is TinyPic: http://tinypic.com It is a simple load up and link site without all the commercial bumpf.

The other part of your post is a bit of a mystery and you might need to speak with Kaz. I have to log in when I want to post because I kill cookies when my browser closes down. However, if I kill a tab to make space I stay logged in so that when I come back to VV I can post straight away. Maybe it is a mix of that type of thing that caused your problem? Under normal (logged out) situations the Photo board is private. Guests cannot even see that it exists.

If you need help just shout.
