Please give me and easy guide

Easy and very, very simple, guide to removing cookies and other rubbish.

The laptop is so slow, as Grumpy will watch all sorts of rubbish on fb and other sites, although he's been told not too

I was shown, a long, long time ago, how to get rid of cookies, but I can't seem to remember and I've tried all sorts and got myself in a tizz.

I think I've got rid of the downloads, as it was quicker to open this morning, but I'd like to remove all the other stuff. Cookies, mainly.

Thank you xx

I should add that I've googled how to remove cookies and have not been able to sort it.

I was given

Setting, more settings, privacy and security, cookies and select options but that doesn't come up anywhere for me

Well, removing cookies and browser history. CAN. improve thing, depends on the browser, and most browsers let you do it simply, but beware, you might have to log back in for some sites, so have a file with login details.

Edge IE: Select Settings > Privacy, search, and services.

Select Choose what to clear under Clear browsing data > Clear browsing data now.

Under Time range, choose a time range from the list.

Select Cookies and other site data, and then select Clear now.

Chrome: On your computer, open Chrome.

At the top right, click More.

Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.

At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.

Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.

Click Clear data.

Firefox:

Click the menu Button and select Settings.

Select the Privacy & Security panel and go to the Cookies and Site Data section.

Cookies and site data

Clear Data

Privacy: Delete cookie and site data when Firefox is closed.

Works for the main apps and clones.

Also do a full AV scan.

Thanks WM, I'll try again tomorrow. It's dark in the lounge, so struggling to see the keyboard.

I already have a list of all log-ins 8-)

If your PC is running slowly, it could be more than just cookies.

Hold down the windows key and press R

In the run dialog type cleanmgr and press enter.

A dialog box to select drive will appear.
Select the C drive (default) and click OK.

When the dialog box comes up, click on Clean up system files.

You will find the same dialog box to select the drive that you got before. Select the C drive (default) and click OK.

It will go and scan again. Once it is done.

Tick the following:

Windows update cleanup
Windows upgrade log files
Temporary internet files
System error memory dump files
System error minidump files
Delivery optimisation files
Temporary files
Temporary Windows installation files
Thumbnails

Click OK
When it asks to permanently delete files, select Delete files.

It will go off and do that. Mine just said it would clean 9.33GB of files. That's a lot but it is the number of files too. Many tens of thousands.

Here is a video of this in action. Note the actual options to check will vary from machine to machine. The size number for each option is important. MB is 1,000 times larger than KB and GB is 1,000 times larger than MB.

Entering disk cleanup has several options. I prefer to go there direct from the run box. He's showing another way.

On a struggling machine this should help out.

Double checking before I do anything.

Setting. Is that the one on the top right - three dots - or the one on the start/turn off thingy?
