Dropdown list

You know how Windows remembers things you've searched for and then they appear in a dropdown box? Is it possible to remove something from it? The reason I ask is that I put a wrong username into my Hotmail and now it is there every time I need to sign on. I keep clicking on the mistaken address by mistake. It's a nuisance. I've done the same in several sites where I've hit the wrong key when entering my username and they keep showing up.

I have this problem as well. It took me some time to realise I had missed the full stop out of one of my email addresses which was why I couldn't log on.

There used to be a Reg Hack to edit out unused/obsolete auto-complete login details. I'll have a look for an update.
However, you can clear them all in IE by Tools>>>Internet Options>>>Content tab>>>AutoComplete Settings...In the pop-up make sure User names and passwords is ticked the use the Delete AutoComplete History... A new pop-up appears with options for you to choose from. Tick passwords and Form data then hit Delete.
Warning! You will lose all login pairs so make sure you remember/know them all before you do this.

Option1.
Select it and simply press delete. Just tested it with IE9 and it works. You may need to cursor down to get to it though.
Option2
Go to Tools->Internet Options->Content
Click on the settings button for the Autocomplete.
Click on "Delete Autocomplete History" Button
Select the preserve checkbox at the top and only the history box in the bottom section.
Done.

Works for some and not for others eh?
The Reg Hack only works to XP.
