fsquirt.exe

I've been trying to enable Bluetooth on my laptop running W7 and by following Youtube instructions I have found fsquirt.exe and copied it to my desktop but I don't know what to do next. When I open it it gives the options of either sending or receiving files but it doesn't seem to be finding my Android phone. I've switched on Bluetooth on the phone. Am I being thick?

Is Bluetooth enabled? Control Panel>>>Administrative Tools>>>Services.... Double click Bluetooth Support Service>>>Make Startup Type: Automatic and then Start it.

Turn on your phone

Go back to Control Panel>>>Devices and Printers.... in the top RH corner Add a Device and let the Wizard find your phone.

You might not have to do the last step as W7 Explorer might find your phone, but you might have to close Explorer and reopen it.

Thanks WM. I've gone through all that but "Add a Device" is only finding my printer not my phone. It's switched on, Bluetooth is switched on but nothing happens. Any clues?

Is Computer/Windows Explorer seeing the phone?

No. Is it something I should be setting on the phone do you think?

Not sure Liz, my camera was found straight away and the wizard came up to do all sorts with the files (photos). Why does windows do this!?.

See if this helps, meanwhile I wil have a look around. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/wind ... -questions

I also found this: http://www.7tutorials.com/transfer-file ... -bluetooth

It says:
2.In the Control Panel search box, type Bluetooth, and then click Change Bluetooth settings
When I do that Change Bluetooth settings doesn't come up.

I think I won't bother. I'll just plug the phone in with the USB cable to transfer files. I just like to have teccie things when they are available but they are not essential. Thanks for your help Frank. :D

Did you see my ETA Liz?

I really do not get it. In the old days things had to be set up manually, it was a bit of a pain, but it worked. Nowadays these Wizards are supposed to do the job, but there are so many variables they are often useless.

When I got my camera, Canon, as soon as I turned it on near the laptop a Wizard popped up and I could do all sorts with the photos. My phone, Samsung, is a different story, and like you I gave up and went the USB route.

Samsung: great phones, the worst software on the planet. :x :x

I am going HTC or Alcatel, maybe Sony Ericcson, for my next one! :D :D :D
