A bit of clarity on why hackers are after Apple Id's

Reading this article tells me why we are seeing phishing mails targeted to capture Apple account ID/Password combinations.

I suggest that nobody with an iPhone/Apple account clicks on a link supposedly sent to them by Apple, unless they requested it in the last few minutes.

This is a particularly nasty form of blackmail for profit. The authorities should be working with Paypal to capture these people. But who knows? It is hard for electronic money to just disappear, it always leaves a trace...

Is there any indication of how many of the victims got (some of) their apps from an alternative source to Apple?

I know from my experience with the tablet that there are Andriod app sites out there that are not safe.

Just a thought.

There are ways to get apps onto an iPhone without iTunes. But they revolve around someone being conned into downloading a Trojan app. The Trojan can then inject malware into the system. Apple can't check everything....

Some news about Apple Cloud security being breached.

Could be. But Apple will never admit it if they can get away with it, assuming it's true.
