Costmin

This has infested my computer and I can't get rid of it. It keeps putting a pop out called "hot deals" out from the right side of my screen when I'm on sites like Amazon. I've disabled it in Chrome>tools>extensions, ran Malwarebytes and Adware but they don't seem to be picking it up. It also doesn't appear in my Programs list in Control Panel. Any clues or ideas?

Liz, get and run this: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdown ... dwcleaner/ it is safe. SpyHunter, as advised by some sites, has issues.

Close everything except AdwCleaner.

Run a scan.
Then hit the "Clean" button
Then reboot and click OK

Thank you WM and Rodo. I'll do that and report back. :D

I've done all that and it just came back. In Chrome>tools>extensions it resets itself as "enabled" and under "permissions" it can "access your data on all websites", "access your tabs and browsing activity" and "manage your apps, extensions and themes". I've unticked enable numerous times and put it in the bin, but nothing works.

Has AdwCleaner not caught it?

No, afraid not. I also did the things Rodo's link recommended which was resetting Chrome to original settings, but that didn't work either. I seem to remember the other day when I was clearing out some unnecessary programs using the Control Panel>programs uninstall, that there was a Costmin which I uninstalled. It's not there now either but it's still popping up on Amazon.

I've gone to Amazon twice now just to check and it seems to have stopped. Maybe it takes a while for the reset to take effect or something.

OK, but if it is in Chrome Extensions try binning it, then clear Chrome cache and cookies. Chrome>>>Settings>>>Privacy>>>Clear Browsing Data. Do that anyway.

A System Restore might also help.

I tried a System Restore earlier but no luck. I've now installed ABP and that seems to have done the trick (thanks Rodo) but I'm also going to clear the Chrome cache etc.
