Any opinions on the ASUS Vivo Tab? I miss my laptop when I travel as it's too big to fit in my Handbag or my cabin bag and needs it's own case so this really appeals to me as it is small, light and does lots of things I like. I don't need one but I want one. A white one!

It's Windows too isn't it? Or is it Gmail? I want to email, take photos, write, log into my social websites, watch films, read books so I don't need to take my phone, my kindle and so many chargers. A tangle of leads and wires along with my hair-styling stuff as well. Will this do all that for me? Is it Wi-Fi? Is it 3/4G? Is it Bluetooth?

A bit of guidance is very welcome before I Buy-Now and add to Basket and Pay!

Mick has an ASUS Transformer and has been very happy with it, if that helps? He has Gmail, it takes photos, he can access social media, watch films, use it as an e reader........It has bluetooth and is Wi Fi

Fugi have a look at the Samsung Glaxy tab2 10.1, or the equivalent note.
We bought the tab when our pc blew up and are really pleased with it.

It does all you say (including you can download the kindle app).
It does take photos but haven't used that, but general opinion on using this size tab as a camera is that they're unwieldy.
I'm sure others will have more expert views though

Thanks Kaz as it does help in that being in IT he thinks highly of the ASUS. The Vivo Tab is smaller and cheaper and has a wireless portable keyboard that stacks away as opposed to a touch screen keyboard. I'm not ready to move away from a real keyboard. I am ready to move away from my desktop PC as I hardly use it, all that cumbersome machinery, so smart phone and laptop do everything for me.

A tablet and a Smart TV feel like the way to go. Keeping up with technology is fun but guidance is needed

Googling 'Asus vivo tab reviews' brings up loads of reviews - some good, some not so. E-mail and browsing are standard now, even for low-end tablets, so you should have no problems there. Asking 'Read books on Asus Vivo tab' or 'Watch films on Asus Vivo tab' tells you all you should want to know.

I think it was probably the size Kaz, and I was so glad you'd said it was too fiddly as that helped us.
As you know it was an emergency but the galaxy's brill, 10" as opposed to 7 makes a huge difference.

The keyboard does sound really good though, it's the one thing that's tricky as it's so sensitive. I manage ok but for prolonged typing would far prefer a proper keyboard

I think it was the size with the Nexus Di I was going to type that a few extra inches would make all the difference, but then realised that could be misconstrued

Mick uses the keyboard when he's typing and the touch screen for Sudoku and the Kindle App, and just generally navigating web pages........A big advantage of having the keyboard attached is extra battery life - two batteries of 7 hours plus making for around 15 hours of battery life.

Fugi, Mick has looked at your link and says the main difference between the Vivo and the Transformer is that the transformer is Android and the Vivo is Windows 8.

Ah! Thanks for that Kaz and I think I know the difference because my phone is Android and I use my Gmail for emailing but I am very used to Windows so that narrows it down for me as I prefer my other email address. Somebody's going to tell me I can use both addresses on either! Drowning in lack of understanding here although the Vivo is cheaper and in my price range.

The keyboard and Windows OS will do it for me. Ten inch better than seven inch
