Mick bought me an Alison Weir historical biog of Elizabeth of York, Henry VIII's mother. I'm about 40 pages in, it's a long one and quite wordy so I'll be dipping in and out

I am now re-reading a reference book I bought about 20 years ago,
called Brewer's Concise Dictionary of Phrase & Fable.

It is the most fascinating reference book I have ever come across.
I can open it at any page at random and find the most interesting items.
It's so much more than a dictionary, and contains a wealth of information.

I recently bought The Complete Works Of Thomas Hardy for my Kindle.

I read one or two of his books years ago, and really enjoyed them, as they
are so descriptive of life back in the nineteenth century, and his use of the
language is so good. Darned good value for money - not much dearer than
a Sunday newspaper.

The classics can be had very reasonably on Kindle, I got the whole works of Dickens for 99p!!!!
