What are we reading in December?

Postby Ally » 01 Dec 2023, 07:47

How is it December?!?!?!

I'm reading My Daughter's Husband by Daniel Hurst.
It's the follow up to My Daughter's Boyfriend. :)

I finished the Charlotte Levin book, really enjoyed it. It wasn’t a happy story but it had me gripped and I loved the small mention of the main character from her other book.

I’m a chapter into Before I Met You by Lisa Jewell.

I love Lisa Jewell, Jo.

I have read so many of her books

I am reading Fabulous Finn About the Police Dog Finn who was badly injured when on duty and in whose name Finns Law was brought in, so service animals are no longer treated as property. Previously if an animal was injured the perpetrator could only be charged with criminal damage, they were considered the same as a car, or any other item of property

Think I’ve read that book Jo.

I read my very gory crime novel by Chris Carter but now I’m on to a different author, book is called Wrong Time Wrong Place can’t remember the author’s name, Gillian something

A long read, but a very good book, Jan.
In contrast, the next book in the Comoran Strike series, "The Ink Black Heart" is a concept book involving, as a substantial part of the text, numerous simultaneous chat room conversations laid out side-by-side.
Mrs O quickly gave up on it - I struggled to the end of it, but I can't say I'd recommend it. The plot's OK, but at over 1,000 pages, it's very difficult to read.

We have both just finished reading "The Retreat" by Sarah Pearse - her second novel.
It's a classic "party trapped on an island (off the Devon Coast) with a killer on the loose" type of thriller, but it's superbly written and very gripping!

Ossie, we did enjoy the TV adaptation of those books - so are the books worth a read?
