I must be a real Philistine!

Postby Osc » 26 Sep 2015, 22:53

I rarely buy a book except on the Kindle app now, and mostly use the library. However, occasionally my sister gives me a bundle of books, and she does try to read "good" books. Well, in the current pile she has given me, I really enjoyed two but I am currently struggling with the 2014 Man Booker prize winner, The Narrow Road to the Deep North. It's so flipping wordy. For heaven's sake, just tell the bloody story   I mean it is a good story, but get on with it! You see I have no class

Nor me Osc!! I don't buy them either, just order them at the library ;) And I hate wordy books too - I do feel a bit of a pleb sometimes as Jen owns a lot of 'classics' and I've not read half of them ;)

I've given up on it now, I couldn't muster up any sympathy for the main character

Ah well that's a killer :| I get frustrated with the 'heroines' in many of mine, but usually stick to the end, if only to see them get wise!! LOL
