Way back when.

I was thinking the other day about the things we used to eat when I was a child.
How things have changed !
If we could travel back to those days we would have to mind our P's and Q's.

Curry was just a surname.
All crisps were plain.
A takeaway was the opposite of adding.
Pasta had not been heard of.
Rice was in a milk pudding, and never in a main course.
A Big Mac was for rainy days.
Oil was for lubricating, Fat was for cooking.
Beans were only made by Heinz.
Sugar cubes were only used by the wealthy.
A chippy was a carpenter.
Tea bags were unheard of.
Coffee came in a bottle and was called Camp.
You made tea with tea leaves.
Yoghourt was something that only the French ate.
Pizza was where the leaning tower was.
We didn't know that fish had fingers.

* A chippy was a carpenter.

Not round here, he were a joiner.

A chippy was where haddock and chips were got for Friday tea.

None of that southern 'cod' nonsense. ;)
