As for decent meals cooked perfectly he is no more knowledgeable than I am - what something tastes like is subjective.

Definitely!

Had it on record, just finished watching - glad Rylan got through, he's obviously not an experienced cook but managed to produce a decent meal, on time

With practice he could be good, and it will have helped his confidence.
