First up are Are You Being Served followed by Porridge on Sunday from 9pm on BBC1.

I'm not so sure about these. Surely there will be comparisons and the original ones are possibly always going to seem to be better.

This.
The Dad's Army film wasn't a patch on the originals even though it had a great cast.

Some things shouldn't be messed with should they. Keeping Up Appearances may work with it being about Hyacinth before she met Richard, and Porridge features Fletch's grandson but someone else playing Alf Garnett? Old Man Steptoe?

Quite liked last night Are You Being Served, thought Roy Barraclough, John Challis and Sheree Hewson were very good. Hated Porridge, there can only ever be one Fletcher and that was Ronnie Barker. Also the younger actors don't seem to have the same comic timing as the older actors did.

I enjoyed Are You Being Served too, I'd quite like to see a series of it. I very quickly lost interest in Porridge. I agree about the young actors. No one can better Ronnie Barker, the man didn't even have to speak to get a laugh, his facial expressions were enough
