SCD Saturday 28th

Felt the show was a bit of a disappointment last night, fabulous costumes and make up as usual for Halloween, but a lot of the performances didn't quite match up. Much better standard overall last week.

Dance of the evening, Debbie and Giovanni, absolutely loved it. His choreography is always great for her.

Also loved Aston and Janette, Alexandra and Gorka plus Joe and Katya (especially loved Katya's custume and make up)

Always love Jonnie and Oti, but he did struggle with this one, really hope he's not in danger this week.

Poor Davood, he got the blame for bad choreography, but that's totally down to Nadiya. Tbh I feel he's a really good dancer with lots of potential, but she constantly lets him down with her choices. I think he would be doing so much better with another pro. Natalie would have done wonders with him.

Quite liked Molly and AJ, Gemma and Aljaz although I thought Gemma was very lumpy this week and definitely overmarked.

Also rans: Ruth and Anton, Susan (it wasn't her best dance) and Kevin (bit too full of himself these days)

As for Simon and Karen, oh dear they really, really must go this week. I don't know if it's just me and E, but Karen is really beginning to grate, she's so OTT and 'in your face' !!

What did you all think?

Exactly all of the above Jen!!! Couldn't have put it better myself!

I really hope Simon goes tonight!

I was out so recorded it and whipped through it when we got home. I thought it was very lack lustre. Was surprised at the positive comments about Gemma, I really like her but thought her jive was lumpy.

There are a lot of comments on digital spy regarding Kevin and Susan not reacting well to their comments, is that true? Can’t be bothered to go back and watch it but she could be in trouble if so

I thought Kevin was a bit argumentative, like Anton was a couple of weeks ago? But Susan just seemed disappointed, I don't think she was a sore loser.

I agree Gal, it was Kevin who didn't take it too well, he's coming over as a bit full of himself. Anton tends to do it with humour

I was a little disappointed this week. Too much Halloween nonsense, and not enough
ballroom dancing for my liking. But I suppose lots of children watch this show, and it's
an opportunity for the BBC to demonstrate their skills in presentation.

I completely agree. Far too much emphasis on make up and special effects, with the addition of some very strange music choices means I never really enjoy the Halloween show. In fact I have not really connected with Strictly at all so far this season, I suppose it doesn't help that we were away for two of them, but even so...I'm not really interested in any of the contestants (except maybe Debbie because I would be interested to see if a woman that age would be allowed to win by the BBC)....much of the music is increasingly unsuitable, I love dancing to modern music but I hate the way they force music to fit a dance.....Shirley Ballas has been a disappointment so far......those flipping training videos which show no training...I am just disenchanted with the whole thing :(

I totally agree Osc.

I know we had one whatsapp fun conversation which was great...but then both of us were away the next weekend? or two weekends?

But anyway....I've caught up on each dance (without all the crud and silliness and stoopid comments!)

I do like fb's 2 minute videos of how each dancer is doing. :D :D

I like having my own 43 minute version of SCD on catch up.

Then making my own opinion. :P :P :P

I might be being an old fart here  but I don't think SCD is as good as it was a few years ago.

I remember celebrities like Colin Jackson, Denise Lewis, Matt Dawson...even my lovely Mr Martin and they all seemed to just get on with the 'job' in hand without all the 'drama' there is now.

Just MO of course. :D

Plus they all started from a position of not being able to dance starting out, they learned, grew, improved, whereas now some of the dances on the first night are suitable for the final

Exactly!

I was sitting here eating my Chinese takeaway  and remembering people who had learnt to dance from scratch.

Remember Chris Hollins and Mark Ramprakash?

It was a delight to watch them going from having two left feet to really accomplished dancers.

**Ally wot has gone all nostalgic!**
