That's exactly what it is Gal, it's pretty much all about the tour they did of the UK and Ireland in the 50s although there are scenes from earlier in their career.

I loved it, I thought it was brilliantly acted and was funny yet sad. I won't say much more until others have seen it.

I was so chuffed to see one of my favourite places featured a lot too. The hotel, in Newcastle, the street scenes with the old terrace row with shops, the bit where they were hamming it up as lollipop men and the fish and chip shop* were all in the Black Country Museum in Dudley which we have an annual pass for!

*Best fish and chips to be had anywhere!

We saw it yesterday - as you say, Jo, it was sad but understated and beautifully acted. I don't like Alan Partridge, but Steve Coogan is a very good actor.

I just hope it's not too long a wait for it to be released!

Osc, I thought the end was very moving, and the footnotes afterwards saying that Stan continued writing for Laurel and Hardy after Ollie had died and up until his own death :( I hadn't realised just how driven Stan was.
