TOTP2

Just been watching on BBC4.

Oh dear, the 1980-90s, what a desert for decent music: Marc Bowlegs. Maradonna, Adam in his pants, Sadie Quatro. It takes a lot to make Trip-Hop an Hip-Hop sound good but they managed it.. Oh how we prayed for S.A.&W, Jason and Kylie - not.

And the dances .... Sixties shuffle meets the Green Goddess morning exercise programme.

Best laugh for ages.

The things we get up to in lockdown, eh?

Northern soul - Keep the Faith. :cute:

I have to disagree WM - 80s-90s had some fab music!! Admittedly not all of it, but then what decade has?

Everyone has different tastes - I love 70s and some 2000s as well :D

John watches those on occasions, there was some utter crap in the 80s. I think the decade started better than it ended when it came to music.
More often than not though we end up down the YouTube rabbit hole

I’d say we lean more towards 90s music, even the lads listen to it a lot (one of the most used sentences in our house is “Alexa, play Absolute 90s”). Joe’s not happy that Leeds being cancelled means he won’t see Liam Gallagher again this Summer and I’d been tempted to get day tickets for the day he was headlining. I always say that the best gig I’ve ever been to was Green Day supported by Frank Turner at Brixton Academy but Liam Gallagher at the NIA last November comes a very close second.

70's music for preference but oh, I don't know, the 1980's did have some high spots …

The talented Nicholas David Kershaw

The even more talented Thomas Earl Petty
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvlTJrNJ5lA

Then there's Sean Feargal Sharkey OBE

However, I was more into 2-Tone in that era ….

I'm inclined to think it properly went downhill after that decade …. :cute:

Northern Soul never did it for me, to be honest. I assume you're talking Marvin Gaye and all that sort of stuff ….

As for TOTP, if you really want some really excruciating dancing there's always

Mind you, I did like Sally Carr …...

As for my best gig ever attended - Jethro Tull at the Birmingham Odeon circa 1975. Absolutely electric!

Don't get me wrong, the 80s had a few good tunes - a few - and good things started to pick up again in the 90s, except for rap, hip-hop and when the initials R&B were stolen from the real deal.

It is still the 60s and 70s for me. Well some of the 70s. The slide started when the abominations that were Funk and Disco raised their ugly heads.

Northern Soul, Ossie, not Marvin Gaye as such. Let me try to convert you. ;)

Barbara Mills - Queen of fools https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb6RWqymnJk

Elgins - Put yourself in my place https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQWfe1BHTow

Formations - At the top of the stairs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIERUMDoHO4

Joanie Sommers - Don't pity me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uX__kRM5YA

Mary Wells - You beat me tothe punch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd7atOclCBU

Trammps - Hold back the night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGKgR4jPlyM

Chuck Jackson - I'll fight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbutqHuzOAg

Velvet Hammer - Happy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tvRew70LC4

Or try Levanna's playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZLLPaX ... adio=1&t=5 Gorgeous.

I'll pretend I didn't read that - how could you not love a bit of funk (Chic? Nile Rodgers is a master!!!) and disco?? :D :D Guaranteed to get you moving 8-)

Ossie I seem to remember you and I having a conversation about JT way back - Living in the Past has always been one of my favourites :D
