Secrets From The Workhouse

Postby Ally » 02 Jan 2014, 17:05

Watched part 1 of this today and will watch the second part tomorrow.

It's a repeat and I'm glad I caught it this time round.

Really interesting how some of our TV stars had relatives in the Victorian work houses.

I've really enjoyed slobbing watching telly today as it's something I rarely do.

I've watched Magnum PI, Minder, The Sweeney, Mr & Mrs and the above programme.

What a lazybum day I'm having.

Yes I saw that! They used to lock women up for having illegitimate babies! When they closed down the old long-term mental asylums in the 1980s there were old ladies in some of them that had been there all their lives just about - for being unwed mums
