Great Canal Journeys.

Pru Scales and Timothy West on our canals. It was fascinating, from an historical perspective, seeing the Kennet and Avon canal as it was and as it now is.

However, what I liked most about it was the relationship between Pru and Tim. Pru has pre-Alzheimer's and the two of them were full of love and understanding. There wasn't a moment of regret. It was so fefreshing to watch.

I read an interview with them the other day, about this, and quite fancied seeing it. What channel was it on Frank, I'll try and find it on catch up or iplayer etc :)

Oh I'll have to watch this. I have always liked the two of them. I also love canals and this will bring back memories of me and a girlfriend back in the 80's when we decided to hire a 42 ft narrow boat for a week...oh my!

Yes it seems a previous trip was filmed in 1990, when theirs was the first boat on the newly reopened canal :)

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I found it on More4 - it's normally on C4 on Mondays at 9pm.

There were clips from their original trip on the K & A in 1990 - the fist boat down the canal after its restoration as a reward for their work in getting the restoration approved and carried out.

This was on again over the weekend. so far I've seen them on a trip down the Rochdale canal, one in Wales and the Nivernais canal in France - and how beautiful that was.
