This has made me think of this from Jo's Happy Days post. :D :D

I absolutely adored Susan Saint James (her husky voice :D ) in McMillan and Wife.

(I loved Rock Hudson too)

Rhoda - loved the way she stood up to her mom! and Joe her husband.

Mary Tyler Moore - a career woman that didn't need a man to support her. :D

And this is mental - can anyone remember Petrocelli?

His wife (Maggie?) was so patient waiting for their house to be built whilst they lived in a caravan/trailer?

Imagine us ladies now - I want that house built and I want that house built now!

I bet I can think of more soon.

  Oh I remember all of those - including Petrocelli

Will have to give your question some thought, still a bit early for my poor brain

Ooooh......I loved Abby Lockhart, played by Maura Tierney in ER, and she ended up with the gorgeous Luca.

I really liked Sue Johnston in Brookie, and Jane Lynch in Glee. She was so awful that I couldn't help admiring her.
