GBBO Sabotage?

Postby Lozzles » 28 Aug 2014, 08:05

I don't think so, but it was wrong of Diana to take Iain's ice cream out of the freezer. She certainly should have stood up and accepted her part in it all.

The write-up in the Times said there was something afoot, so I made sure I didn't skip any of that bit ;)
It was, obviously, very wrong of whoever it was, they should have said something loudly at the time - then again, it's edited and we can't be sure what actually happened I suppose :?

Edited to add - well, apparently, it was out of the freezer for no more than 40 seconds.

What struck me was that Diana didn't even seem sorry or embarrassed - and why did she take it out anyway, even if only for 40 seconds (was following it on Twitter last night!) I was wondering if some ingredient in the icecream meant it would never freeze properly, you know the way certain fruits won't allow a jelly to set. I felt sorry for Iain and most impressed that he didn't name and shame Diana although of course, he might have off camera. I actually did think it was a bit harsh to eliminate him, they could have had a double elimination next week.

I think he hadn't exactly impressed anyway so he might have been going even without the ice cream episode.

I watched that section again, using the pause button where necessary, and it just was not shown that it was Diane who took it out of the freezer. There were the two older ladies actually there, moving things round and that was it. As usual, the Daily Mail have completely misrepresented the facts.

I have just watched it on BBC Player and Diane`s face is a picture
I think she knew what she had done as she said she thought Ian had his own
freezer
In her defence i don`t think his would have frozen properly as prior to this
incident he looked at his icecream and said it had`nt frozen properly.

lissie :D (Still it makes good TV)

We were shouting at the tv.

I don't think it was out for long though really and everyone was having trouble with their ice cream as it was 25 degrees in the tent.

Ian should have at least presented his sponge and meringue. I remember in a previous series when some dropped their show stopper cake and presented a scraped up mess to the judges. And they stayed in!

I think if he had presented them with something he would have stayed in and a normal would have gone so I'm pleased he had a paddy and gave them nothing. We don't like him in this house - he looks like a gnome with that silly beard.

I think throwing the stop is what did it - if he'd kept his cool he night have stayed in. It wasn't very fair what Diana did though :? :(

I couldn't understand why so many of them (all) made huge batches of ice-cream and used the warm custard method, and don't say to kill salmonella. The temperature is not high enough to kill salmonella, but it is high enough, as well as the temperature of 25º in the tent, to put the ice-cream makers into overdrive.

Let's be honest, he has been on the cusp in every show and the ice-cream was the straw that broke his camel's back, so he had a stomp. I can't blame him really, but it would have been better to present something other than a bin.
