Alex Polizzi: Chefs on Trial

Not the best programme she has ever done, but hey, it pays the mortgage.

One very interesting part of it was the dish costing versus the selling price..... and the markup on food is phenomenal. Then again we were never told the overheads.

Yet tonight on another channel was another 'woe is me living on hard times' offerings. People who were spending well over £100 a week on a family of four..... not one of them under an XL or size 16. So they were economising by getting their ready meals from Aldi and Lidl rather than the big four.

Chef creates restaurant quality meal for under £4, mum and dad buy ready made pizza for over £4. Something wrong somewhere.
