BBC War and Peace.

From the first episode I had this down as a roller-coaster ride, and now I am convinced.

Six episodes is not enough; eight or twelve would do it more justice. It is a compelling story for those with the stamina to stay with it.

I have an ancient softback version, four books, and they was unputdownable.

I will not be wasting any more time on the TV version.

We decided to go with "Endeavour" on ITV as we thought that War 'n Peace would just be a round of aristocratic wenching and violent blood-letting ....

The first episode was poor (a rip-off of The Great Gatsby according to Mrs O) but tonight's was a return to form, much better.

I was disappointed with the new Endeavour last week so changed to War & Peace.

Now I am disappointed with W&P.

Well I'm enjoying both

We are watching Endeavour on transmission, and I'm catching up with War and Peace during the week on the player as we both love Endeavour. I found that last week's was worth watching for the sheer look of it, quite breathtaking I thought xxx

We have not watched this week's W&P yet, but were not overly impressed with it last week :? Too bland or something, we will see what we think of Ep 2.

Nanna are you still watching? I am still really enjoying it - not at all easy to condense a book as long as War and Peace into six episodes but I think they are doing a fantastic job 8-) Last one next Sunday :(

I think he did a fantastic job of whittling out the philosophising bits and keeping to the main story line. I too think it is stunning. I feel as though I want to watch it all again straight away because I didn't take in the contents of the first episode properly.

As for Endeavour, I think that is a fine drama and every bit worthy of being a prequel to the Morse series. I think we have been very lucky and very spoilt recently by some really excellent dramas on TV. As some have finished there are others just as good waiting in the wings. I think the Shetland series has been seriously under-valued too.
