was amazing! It was a long journey - two hours by road to Staines, to meet the boys, train from Staines to Waterloo, Jublilee line to Canning Town, the the Docklands Light Railway to Prince Regent station where the ExCel centre is! It was worth it though, J has grown into such a lovely man! Warm, and funny, great looking, and has really fond memories of our childhood, and my mum and dad, and our grandmother, so it was absolutely lovely to catch up with him after all these years, and to meet his wife Iris, who is a lovely lady
They have an amazingly successful business selling the watches, some of which are extremely valuable! They set it up 11 years ago, fairly modestly, but since then people have been investing more in watches apparently so their value has gone through the roof. J's prize possession is one of the watches that Steve McQueen wore in that film, Le Mans That wasn't on the stand, needless to say, but J did give me one to try on but after I saw the price tag of 25,000 euros I didn't dare J has always loved clocks and watches, since he was a little boy when his mum told him all about our great granddad who used to help look after Big Ben. He and Iris travel all round the world, to car and racing exhibitions and meetings, they have never had children so are free to come and go as they please. He seemed very happy, and very busy, and we've promised each other NOT to leave it so long next time
Oh and more good news from that branch of the family, my cousin Z, who I Skype with regularly, has become a grandmother as her daughter L had a baby girl a few days ago - they have called her Norah
Frank, I asked him about your watch, he did know of it! He said there were two versions of it, one quartz and one manual, and they were made in the 80s. He didn't give me a value but said if you wanted to email him, and maybe wanted another he might be able to get you one cheaply as you are my friend. Hope that helps xxxxxxxx
