Meteor showers ....

Postby TheOstrich » 13 Aug 2017, 20:47

Have spent the evening wheedling Mrs O to step out into the garden with me, once the dusk came, to look out for tonight's meteor shower.

Just as we were about to get ready, we looked out of the patio window - and a large bat hared past it at a rate of knots and embarked on a circuit of the lawn. :?

Let us just say that promptly ended Mrs O's involvement in the proceedings .....

Our bats seem to have gone, I used to love watching them swoop past the windows at dusk

We've seen bats flying around whilst we've been sitting outside, I love seeing them.

We used to have loads, but then they build a new develpment. One of the houses that was torn down used to have the bats in the roof so the contractors had to stop until the bats had taken up residence in a new roof space across the road - which they obligingly did; but I think the move did upset them as there definitely weren't as many the following years. This year is the first year that I've really noticed them again - they're such incredibly agile creatures it's fascinating watching them fly about

We've often seen them in the woods at dusk but this is the first time that we've seen any by the houses.
