Confused

looking to book a return train on the 4th Sept at 13.03 from Worcester to Fareham with 1 change.
Website page shows 2 trains leaving at that time from the same platform (won't fit 2 trains on that platform at the same time) for Fareham.
Rang the helpline (hah) only to be told -well there is 1 train at 12.59 ,3 changes. 1 train at 13.03 with 2 changes. There is not a train at 13.03--well there is on my screen sunshine !!!

Who works out the flaming timetables!!!

Vic, sometimes on National Rail Enquiries I get what you got, i.e. "two trains listed, both departing at the same time".

Example would be my recent trip to Wimbledon. Both entries start from Gillingham at 10:51, but one is "change once, at Woking, onto the Waterloo stopper", and the other is "carry on to Clapham Junction, change there, and come back out to Wimbledon on any one of umpteen suburban services". Both, I assume, are "permitted routes".

The difference in eventual arrival time at Wimbledon was 2 minutes apart! Coming back, it was either 17:06 change Clapham or 17:08 change Woking, both with the same eventual arrival time back in Dorset. No difference in price. I opted for the Woking change as Clapham Junction has about 14 platforms and involved too much scurrying about … :D

(As for the 17:06 and 17:08 - my blinking Croydon tram was held just outside the Wimbledon station tram platform, and I eventually arrived at 17:10 !! )

Well I was passing Fareham station today so called into the ticket office about this and yes his screen was the same as mine 2 trains at the same time.
However he was able to tell me that it is actually 1 train that will "split" at some point in the journey-well why doesn't it say so then !!

I just looked that train up on the Trainline booking website to see if I can make sense of it but around those times I can only see one leaving Worcester Foregate St at that time, 13.03. The one before that is 12.55, the next one is 13.55. Same on the Virgin Trains site too.

Eh?
Are we on the same lines here Vic? I've just looked at GWR and the original time is still listed.
