Berlimey, you lot really do put your decorations up early

Mine will go up a couple of days before and we'll take them down a couple of days later.

Cannock was on the local BBC news at the weekend because of the lack of Christmas in the town centre. There was a Christmas 'event' a couple of weeks ago which is usually when the lights are switched on and everyone gathers around the Christmas tree to see it happen...but this year there were no lights and no tree.

The council had decided to do away with the expense and 'generously' gave the lights to the Traders Association, in other words they'd passed the expense onto the struggling traders who they're charging to have A boards outside of their shops and bringing in more parking charges which puts people off coming into the town centre. The traders couldn't afford to do anything other than have a DJ in the bandstand and a few fairground rides nearby so it was a disaster.

There's been a Facebook campaign since and lots of companies, large and small, have donated and there's going to be a load of lights and a tree put up in the town this week.
