We're looking festive now, not feeling it yet but there's still time

The trees are done in the upstairs and downstairs living rooms, red and gold upstairs and gold downstairs, and today I've dug out the lights for the outside tree and made that look pretty and I've jazzed up the quite plain wreath I bought last year with a lot of mini baubles which I attached with wire. That was fiddly but it looks nice.

Presents are mostly bought and I plan on writing the cards tomorrow.

When I was young we weren't allowed the tree until a few days before Christmas which seemed far too late when everyone else had their's decorated so as soon as we had the boys I started doing it early on.

I do remember decorating on Christmas Eve some years ago though. Work had been crazy, as retail is at Christmas, and on top of that the local drunks took to smashing the shop windows in the town the week before Christmas so being the manager I was called out three times after Midnight in the week before Christmas and had to stay for the glazers and alarm engineers to do their jobs. Come Christmas Eve, the tree still hadn't been decorated and I just about summoned up enough enthusiasm to put a string of lights on it and leave it at that.

I envy you that second living room, Jo! Ours feels full just with us and the dogs, so once we get visitors it's definitely crowded! We thought about a conservatory (we'd lose too much garden, plus the drains are in the wrong place) or even a sideways extension, but as we'll probably move when Mick retires we've decided against it.

Your decs sound lovely, we have lights on our outside trees, at the front :) :D

Ours are up. Got a new small tree with flashing lights, a new small Father Christmas, a new wise man.
Lights up round the front door and in the bay window. Also got a display we bought two years ago. Has three trains going rounf the articial tree with Santa
and his sleigh going round the top.
Will try and post a photo.

I got my first card too! Saundra, there's a house on the main road near here that's had a Christmas wreath on their front door since last year! It looked daft in the summer, but now I suppose they're having the last laugh :? 8-)
