Am I the only one....

.... who thinks that avocado and asparagus are two of the most disgusting things to put in your mouth?

They are right up there with (windscreen wash) red wine, (the same colour as it) brownies and (baby sick) runny cheese.

I was just watching Jamie cooking Christmas food and wondering what the hell they have to do with it. :?:

Avocados are supposed to be good for you; we used to have them fairly regularly but they've become rather too pricey for us these days.

Asparagus - always a bit of a treat, with lashings of butter, or as an omelette - but steer clear of the canned stuff, what we used to do up in Brum was have a day trip out down the Vale of Evesham where they grow it and buy fresh; end of May was the best time, IIRC. We tend to avoid supermarket asparagus as it's often a bit "woody" out of season.

Red wine - I'm pretty much teetotal these days, but Mrs O likes the odd tipple

Brownies - not allowed!

Runny cheese - I likes a good wedge of Summerzet Brie .... :D

As for Christmas food, forget Jamie, stick to the traditional. We bought the pigs in blankets, the sage 'n onion stuffing, the Auntie Bessies roasties and the parsnip/carrot mix today for freezer 8-)

Oh delish! Some of you need a taste bud and smell test. :o

A lunch of avocado, asparagus, brie, camembert and pont l'eveque, all washed down with red vinegar and followed by chewy and partially solid rear-enders.

Pass me da Dutchie - from any side. :) :) :)

I can take or leave them. Neither would be my first choice on a menu, but I wouldn't turn them down :?

I quite like fresh asparagus, but not overly keen on avocado.

I don't mind asparagus but I don't like avocado. Don't like wine, be it red, white or the pink stuff.

Can't stand Brie or Camembert. Tom and Shannon bought several wheels of Camembert back from Paris in the Summer, it reeked! I could smell it as soon as they got in the car at Stafford station so I pity anyone who'd been on any train with them between there and Paris
Give me extra mature Cheddar anyday!
