Good morning all. It's been raining since last night, but not heavily; it's windy - I can see the uncut grass on the back lawn eddying in the gusts
, but it's not yet a real gale. According to the Met Office, that's to come - conditions are set to worsen in the next couple of hours.
Stay safe in the storms, everyone ….
So it's a leisurely breakfast and morning coffee, followed by the weekly chore of soup-making. I chopped all the vegetables last night (I'm sure I'll take my finger off one of these days
) and I'll be completing the task by dicing a couple of large Spanish onions and a couple of cloves of garlic shortly.
We finished off the last of Mrs O's homemade award-winning chutney yesterday, the batch has lasted us a good 6 months. We were tempted by Waitrose's offer of a Valentine's Day evening meal for £20, but when I looked at the options in-store, it seemed there'd have to be a heck of a lot of assembly and preparation, so I finished up buying a Charlie Bigham's ready meal Lasagne for 2 (on reduction £6), two pots of Bonne Mamman Crème Brulee (on reduction £1.75) and a small bottle of Chilean Merlot for £2.09. So a very nice Valentine Day's meal for under a tenner!
