The one with the repricing gun is your friend.

Whenever I see a menmber of staff with one heading for the 'reduced' shelf I always follow - it means another set of reductions. :D :D :D

I just came away with 3 x 2 packs of steak slices for 10p each, they are now individually wrapped and in the freezer. I also got 2 x 8 packs of Irish Recipe sausages at 22p each and some bashed tomatoes for 33p, they are now in a sausage casserole - one for tea and a few in the freezer. Not a bad deal for under a quid.

Waitrose have done away with the "Reduced" shelf. They are still yellow-stickered, but you have to hunt for them amongst the full-priced stuff.

I'm quite ruthless when it comes to special offers, though - I buy / stock up until the offer finishes, and after that it's off the shopping list until it's back on offer again. In the meantime, it's the rival brand on offer that gets chosen - or if the worst comes to the worst, Iceland! :cute:

I always check out the reduced shelf in Sainsbury's, useful stuff sometimes. I've had nice packs of chops, mince, and all sorts 8-)

Good bargains there Frank. I check the date on stuff just to make sure I'm not buying something that's out of date in two days time. Our local Sainsburys tend to have the yellow stickered stuff on the general shelves too.

I never get these bargains, I can't go shopping during the day when the happen :(

But agree with Vic; on the rare occasion that I do come across something that is reduced and I like it - if it's in date then it goes straight into the freezer.

My thinking has always been that a bargain is only a bargain if I would normally use it. Ready made mashed potato reduced from £1.29 to £0.87 is not a bargain, but a tray of chicken breasts down from £5.49 to £3.90 is. :D

I have seen things on their last sell-by date but never anything out of date - I don't think it's allowed, and my freezer really is my friend.

Tesco where Joe used to work is terrible around the time that the reductions are done. People wait around and the fridge aisle where the reduction shelf is gets blocked off, and you get filthy looks if you try and get through. I think they think you're trying to push in.
