Bucketing with rain, so to Waitrose for the weekly shop!. Nobody else would brave the weather, would they, right? Wrong! Queue of 10 when I arrived and queue easily of 40 by the time I'd reached the front. Security apologised for the long wait; he said he'd taken pity on those waiting when the rain started, so he'd let them all in the store, which was now chokka!

Social distancing seems to have reverted back to the state of anarchy which ruled just after lockdown started, when nobody really knew what they were doing and Waitrose had singularly failed to get its act together. There are certainly signs the store is reverting back to type; I had to ask for disinfectant spray for the trolley handles whereas recently they'd been boasting they'd all been pre-cleaned. Possibly the weather had something to do with that today, so we'll let them off.

Inside the store, observation shows two definite "camps" of shoppers. There is the furious, masked, late middle aged lady who glowers at you from the far end of the aisle for even considering walking towards her. Then on the other hand there is the middle-aged bloke, unmasked, who seems happiest swanning backwards and forwards and from side to side in the aisle without any thought for anyone else's path or progress. And the latter invariably on the phone while he's scanning the shelves. The furious ladies are relatively easy to avoid, the eejit guys less so - I had to forgo certain aisles which were blocked by meandering males.

Reasonably well stocked, they'd got plenty of flour but strangely no digestive biscuits. And finally a scam alert - Nestle's Family Pack of 16 KitKats has been reduced to just 14 - but they're still selling at the same price ,,,, :|

Ossie as you all know my Jis a range manager he said about this social distance thing it's ok out side the store
But chaos inside
People just go where they want
And the worst groups are us oldies when asked by staff to follow the signs
The answer is listen mate if been, through the war and nobody tells me what to do
So what do you do admire the elderly or cause a riot
Answer you go to your office and have a cig and hope you haven't caught the virus today

Snap Crommers!!! It's been non stop since yesterday afternoon and is still persisting!! June??? I'm a little (more) anxious as we have some greenery that shouldn't be there growing from the guttering, but we need a loooong ladder to get it out, which we don't have. John is coming tomorrow to sort it as he has one, but I also noticed we have a broken roof tile on the small roof above the front room window and the offending guttering means the rain is splashing on to this little roof  Only hope we can sort it before it becomes much worse.

Also our hot tap on the bath for some reason is trickling rather than flowing normally...well, slightly more than trickling but not much. Took about 20 minutes to run a decent bath last night, so John will also check that out while he's here.

All doom and gloom today, sorry.

Done some housework, spilt half a mug of coffee as I took it out of the microwave (got distracted so it cooled down) so had to re-do the kitchen!! I probably should go back to bed!

Glad Don had a good 60th - your post sounds so 'normal' Ally, back to how we used to live, going out for this meal and that. How fab!! 8-)

Oh Saundra, that does sound hard! I'm afraid I fall into the face covering wearer who glares at you if you come within 3 metres, let alone two!! Hence likely why I prefer Lidl as there's rarely a queue outside and not many inside...ideal for these times! And safer.

Saundra, my experience is similar, the older shoppers being the worst offenders :? :( There was an elderly couple in the Co-op this morning creating chaos :?

Gal, I also wear a mask and a determined expression :geek: :cute:

Cheer up Gal it could be worse; you could be our neighbour Sergio. He thinks he is having problems with his house plumbing again, caused by his git of a next door neighbour's conifers.
Plus his ex-wife gave him a sofa the other day. It was too big to go through the door, so he ended up having to pay a bloke to take his front window out so he could get the sofa in! Then he finds out it is too soft for him to sit on; not comfy at all. And he needs a comfy seat, because now he's hurt his back trying to move the enormous great thing...
