Hi everyone.

I had my second vaccination and I was very happy to get it.

Picked dad up. He's so frail my heart hurts. :(

Got him showered, put nice clean linen on his bed and he went straight to sleep.

As I type he's still sleeping.

I need to try and encourage him to eat as he's been eating very little since I got here.

Can anyone recommend something to help him regain a bit of appetite back, please.

Sis and Mark are leaving France early next Wednesday, getting the Euro tunnel then driving to Northampton where Mark's mum lives.
Michele is picking up a hire car and will drive up to us.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. It means a lot. X

Ally I would say soft food scramble egg omelette
Soup ask what he really likes
It's very difficult at times to look after yourself
Especially an elderly man
Have you seen food delivery company who cater
For elderly people like Wiltshire foods?
Take care just a thought has your dad got any help like a care workers to make him his meal ??

Definitely scrambled eggs, or soft boiled with soldiers. Mashed potato with plenty of milk and butter in, soups are good, if it isn't too hot. What about milk puddings, most people of your dad's generation like rice pudding,

Going forward, Saundra's suggestion of a delivery service such as Wiltshire is a good idea, I know they cater for different requirements.

I had the WF brochure delivered last week and dad chose 6 mini meals and 6 desserts.

They were delivered on Wednesday morning.

Dad managed 1/4 tin Heinz tomato soup tonight.
Little by little.

He's back in bed.

I cannot tell you how many times I've thanked God that I'm here.

How about nice thick milk shakes made with fruit and ice cream Ally? That is something Luke can often be tempted with

Ally, so sorry to hear this.

Anyway a couple of things I remember from when my ex FiL was ill and adding to what the others have said.

1. Ask your dad what he would like to eat. It might not be your choice but at least he will be eating something.

2. Little and often. A big bowl of delicious soup might outface him when two smaller portions at different times will go down.

3. Find high-calorie, high-fat foods that he would choose to eat, or even sachets of those build up drinks from the athlete's section.

4. Interrogate him with electrodes clamped to his ears. Well maybe not, but talk to him to see if there is something on his mind, but be gentle, don't push.

5. If you get really worried talk to his GP.
